Kallidus delivers key efficiency savings and provides a future-proof solution for managing L&D and performance
The South Wales Police force covers the two major cities of Swansea and Cardiff, equating to 42% of the Welsh population. As with any public sector organisation, cost and accountability are key issues. The force had begun to embrace e-learning and remote learning methods, but felt their current processes could not support their long-term learning and development needs. They needed a cost-effective solution capable of deploying, managing, tracking and reporting on all types of learning.
South Wales Police chose Kallidus to supply an LMS and an authoring tool. The LMS was integrated with third party e-learning content and the Questionmark Perception assessment tool to provide generic online learning and traditional police-specific training to operational and support staff.

Kallidus LMS has enabled South Wales Police to manage blended learning effectively for their 5,500-strong workforce and secondary personnel from Powys, Gwent and Dyfed. They can now deliver, track and report on personalised learning, including classroom training and a comprehensive library of e-learning content, which in turn has resulted in key efficiency savings.
The force can now effectively track and manage mandatory training in areas such as surveillance and public protection, as well as Microsoft training and ECDL certification.
The ability to create and update new e-learning courses in-house has also provided key benefits, including a saving of £10,000 for new security training.
When all forces nationally were required to implement an ePDR system to manage their electronic Performance Development Review activities, Kallidus LMS was seamlessly integrated with ePDR, centralising employee L&D and performance data and saving the force vital administrative resources.
The ePDR is now being used to manage the learning and development of staff from local authorities and partners such as Customs & Excise. Course packages can be shared via the LMS, centralising training delivery and enabling the force to produce performance status reports easily and target crucial skills gaps.
