Dandara is one of the UK’s leading independent property development companies, renowned for creating high-quality homes and residential communities. Dandara Living, the company’s specialist Build-to-Rent division, manages premium rental properties designed to elevate the living experience for residents across the UK. With a focus on delivering excellence in construction and property management, compliance and continuous development are critical to their operations. Ensuring that their teams adhere to stringent industry regulations while continuously upskilling allows Dandara to maintain its reputation for quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. By integrating robust compliance training and ongoing professional development, Dandara empowers its workforce to meet evolving standards and deliver exceptional results in every project.

In January 2024, Dandara had a rising need for a learning management system (LMS). Its current system was not suited for its needs and, with an impending contract renewal date approaching, they knew it was time to explore other options. In this case study, Alison Murphy, Learning & Development Manager at Dandara, talks about how they discovered Kallidus and what types of decisions were made to sign a new LMS within six months from the onset of their search and launch 30 days later.

What was learning like at Dandara before they found Kallidus?

Learning at Dandara was challenging due to their previous provider not being a full-service LMS, but rather a content library with few delivery capabilities. The overwhelming content library made it difficult for users to find relevant courses, resulting in underutilization of learning across the company. This was further impacted by frequent technical difficulties. With the company’s support team located outside of the UK, problems went unresolved issues and impeded progress.

Dandara had some ambitious goals to achieve, and the current platform was not suited for what was in store.

What is it about Kallidus that will make things better?

Kallidus offers simplicity in use and a diagnostic feature for refresher courses, which stands out as a unique selling point for Dandara. As a company that depends on compliance training completion to operate, Kallidus’ refresher courses would save hundreds of hours of time away from project work without compromising the compliance of the organization.

While compliance is a key component of business operations, leadership development has been on the minds of the executive team. Alison says that the company has strategic goals that it aims to meet but felt challenged due to stops and starts with their previous learning platform. They now look to embrace those challenges with fuller support from Kallidus and achieve both compliance and development gains.

What does Dandara hope Kallidus will solve?

Dandara aims for Kallidus to remedy what once felt like an overwhelm of learning, by using Learn (the platform) and Kallidus OTS (off-the-shelf content) to assign training where needed and recommend learning where development will add value. The platform’s intuitiveness will help support their rapid business growth while reducing resource strain on the L&D team. They hope it will make learning more interactive and accessible, moving beyond compliance training to foster a culture of continuous learning and development, and produce results that matter for Dandara, Dandara Living, and people and employees touched by the communities that Dandara builds.

What is next for Alison and Dandara?

Dandara aims to encourage users to explore beyond mandatory training, utilize the platform for various learning opportunities, and evolve the content to include more than just off-the-shelf offerings. They are focused on increasing engagement and look forward to leveraging Kallidus for broader organizational development goals.

Dandara discovered and launched Kallidus Learn in 6 months.
